Tribute to Yves Tanguy
TRIBUTE
Yves Tanguy
It is with great sadness that we inform you of the death of Mr. Yves Tanguy, perfumer and member of the Société Française des Parfumeurs.
Trained in Grasse as an assistant perfumer at the "la Marigarde" cooperative by Raymond Pellegrin, Yves Tanguy joined the Bourjois-Chanel group, headed by Henri Robert, in 1966. As perfumer, he took charge of olfactory control for all the company's fragrances, assisting Henri Robert in his creations.
He then joined the American group Polak's frutal works as a perfumer-consultant, where he was responsible for creating the group's Paris offices. He joined Mane in 1979 as perfumer-creator.
Since 2001, he has devoted most of his time to the preservation and enhancement of olfactory heritage, and to teaching and pedagogy, within the framework of the Osmothèque, the Conservatoire International des Parfums in Versailles, in whose creation he played a part, and the ISIPCA.
Renowned for his elegant, luminous olfactory style, he was one of the first to use synthetic molecules (Hedione in particular) to reinforce the diffusion, freshness and volume of a composition, to call on molecules such as calone for iodine and even marine notes in his creations (New West for her by Aramis in particular), and to propose innovative alloys, as was the case with Magie Noire (Lancôme).
The Société Française des Parfumeurs pays tribute to him and sends its sincere condolences to his family.
